Across the Chianti hills – 2024
Saturday Arrival at the 18th-century country house of Rendola Riding in the afternoon. A welcome glass of Chianti wine with your host Jenny is followed by a typical Tuscan dinner prepared by Isabella (cook and housekeeper).
Sunday Breakfast, followed by morning ride with your English-speaking guide Eraldo (manager of the riding centre) through vineyards, olive-groves and woodland, passing an 18th-century Villa and a 14th-century church (approx. 2,5 h).
After lunch and a rest, short walk to a local farmhouse to sample homemade jams and visit the “Museo della civiltà contadina” (Museum of Rural Culture).
Dinner at home.
Monday Morning ride through more breathtaking landscapes of the Valdarno.
Lunch at Rendola.
In the afternoon, cooking class with Isabella, in preparation for dinner.
Tuesday Day ride heading towards “I Tribbi”, beautiful country villa overlooking the neighbouring valley of Valdambra.
Picnic near the village of San Leolino, in the Chianti hills south of Rendola (approx. 5 h riding throughout the day).
Dinner and night at the villa I Tribbi.
Wednesday Morning ride to visit the village of Montebenichi, with its two restored medieval castles, then back to I Tribbi for lunch.
Relaxing afternoon at the estate, with time for a bathe in the swimming pool, resting or reading in the garden.
For dinner, a typical Tuscan “grigliata” (barbecue) with Casabianca top quality wine made by Aldo, host of I Tribbi.
Thursday Day off from riding, with a visit to Siena for some shopping and discovering the city at your own leisure. Back to I Tribbi in the late afternoon to rest and chill before dinner.
Friday Day ride heading back to Rendola Riding with picnic in the valley below the castle of Cennina, at “Podere Il Lupo”. During the meal, wine tasting with your host Talita, then back to Rendola for a special farewell dinner.
Saturday After breakfast, a short journey to Montevarchi station to take the train back to Florence. For those going to Rome there is a direct train from Montevarchi (you can buy your ticket at the station).
